The US Republican presidential candidate has largely limited his television appearances to a select Trump-friendly few on Fox News, including Mr Hannity, Bill O'Reilly and a panel of co-hosts on the morning show Fox & Friends.
A battle is brewing between two of Fox News' biggest stars after conservative host Sean Hannity accused colleague Megyn Kelly of backing Hillary Clinton.
Kelly seemed to throw the first punch at Hannity last week after the first presidential debate when she remarked, "We've got Trump speaking to our own Sean Hannity".
Hannity replied testily to her on Twitter, tweeting "u should be mad at @hillaryClinton".
Kelly prides herself on her independence, so Hannity's blunt accusation that she is a Hillary Clinton supporter shocked some observers of the Twitter tiff.
Kelly is right. By appearing only on Hannity, and by extension answering only safe questions, Donald Trump is not exactly expanding the tent.
Trump infamously attacked Kelly after a Republican primary debate in which Kelly pressed him on derogatory names he's called women, from "fat pigs" to "dogs, slobs and disgusting animals".
Hannity foe Brian Stelter, meanwhile, slanted the story in Kelly's favor.
Mediaite.com has posted a clip from The Kelly File in which Kelly speaks negatively about both Clinton and Trump.
"Nobody called Sean Hannity", Trump complained when asked why there was no evidence for his claims that he had opposed the second Iraq war (in fact, Trump is on the record saying he supported the invasion of Iraq in 2002).
During her Wednesday night segment, she critiqued both Trump and Clinton for keeping themselves in "their own version of a presidential protection program" rather than expanding their reach to new voters ahead of Election Day. The New York Times reports Hannity has also informally advised Trump on campaign strategy. Trump last appeared on Kelly's program in May, before he clinched the nomination.
CNN said that Ms Kelly's contract is due to expire in mid-2017 and Fox's owners, the Murdochs, are keen to keep her at the network. Although the two had a sit-down interview in April, where Kelly said the two, "had a chance to clear the air".
