Nikon Starts Pre-order for Flagship D5 FX dSLR Camera

Waterproof? Yes. Shockproof? Yes. Foolproof? Hm

The D5 also completely integrates into any professional photographer's comprehensive ecosystem of Nikon accessories.

The entire AF system has been completely re-vamped with adoption of the Multi-CAM 20K autofocus sensor module. All 153 points are compatible with AF NIKKOR lenses f/5.6 or faster, and 15 central points work with an effective aperture of f/8. The new DSLR camera comes with huge advancements in sensor design, auto-focus, metering and image processing. Movies are recorded with a resolution of 3840 x 2160 pixels at 30/25/24p with an angle of view approx. The new Nikon's DSLR is expected to come in March and few of us will be able to justify the cost of the beast, but that's not going to stop anyone of us from desperately wanting one. With the optional WR-A10 (Wireless Remote Adapter) and WR-R10 Wireless Remote Controller (transceiver), the D5 can control and fire up to six groups of SB-5000 Speedlights. "The camera companion has to outperform the expectations by delivering a potent fusion of extensive image capturing power alongside a detailed and immediate acquisition performance regardless of the environment" said Takashi Yoshida Managing Director Nikon Middle East FZE. Successor to the D4s, the new D5 uses a full-frame 20.8MP CMOS sensor with the new Expeed 5 image processor. Consequently the D500 doesn't have quite the same insane sensitivity range as the D5 - its standard range is ISO 100-51,200 and there are five expansion settings taking it up to the equivalent of ISO 1,640,000 - a stop lower than the D5's insane maximum. The D5 features 4K UHD video recording with a next gen AF system for better tracking of moving subjects.

A high-resolution 3.2-inch approximately 2359k-dot touch screen LCD monitor: Adoption of a touch screen for the display monitor enables nimble confirmation and high-speed navigation of a large number of images using a frame advance bar and supports an efficient workflow with text input and the like. Another new feature is D500's SnapBridge functionality, which enables multiple built-in connectivity options, including Bluetooth Low Energy (BLE), Near Field Communication (NFC) and built-in Wi-Fi.

Company CEO Nick Woodman has confirmed at CES 2016 that GoPro is working on a new 360 degree camera.
